Shaker Oval Box made in the traditional Shaker way with a difference! Hand made in Scotland using reclaimed whisky barrel staves.
This box is the No2 size using the traditional Shaker sizing system. It measures 155mm x 100mm and is 55mm tall.
The top and bottoms are solid oak, also from reused barrels.
The outside is finished in a natural hard oil and then waxed. The inside waxed.Both finishing oil and wax are natural and are environmentally friendly
The box supplied may not be exactly as shown due to slight differences in the wood grain etc.
These boxes incorporate the tradition of shaker box making and reusing whisky barrels.
The staves are steamed and flattened before being sliced into thin veneers on order for them to be bent round formers. The tacks used are made on the same machinery in the United States which has been making them for Shaker box makers since the mid 1800s.
The tops and bottoms are held in place by small wooden pegs (traditionally toothpicks, which these are!)
