Quaich - Hand Carved
This beautiful hand carved quaich is individually turned and carved from a spalted beech. Spalting is caused by a fungus infestation which leaves the timber with black figuring, giving it a marble-like appearance. The pattern for the lugs is based on the ancient Edinburgh "Luckenbooth" pattern, with two interwoven hearts at it's centre. It is very popular for the toast of 'The Happy Couple' at weddings. The quaich is 20 cm across and stands 6,5 cm high.
